Sanitary Sewer Overflow Reported on May 3, 2018 at 13th and Pottawatomie

Water Pollution Control (WPC) responded to a sewer call at 1309 Pottawatomie Street where a local plumber had cleaned out the lateral at 1315 Pottawatomie Street and let the sewer run into the street and down the storm drain on 13th Street. WPC cleaned up the debris left by the plumber and flushed out the storm drain, and placed a contaminated creek sign at that location. We would advise the citizens to stay out of the creek from the bridge at 13th and Pottawatomie Street to the bridge just east of 340 Osage Street. WPC has taken E. coli samples and will remove these signs when the result of these tests indicate the creek levels are at a safe level.
