At 9:40 a.m. on June 12, 2023, Water Pollution Control (WPC) staff was informed of sewage running out of a hole in the back yard of 1216 S. 4th Street property.  WPC staff responded to the call and determined that sewage was leaking from a clean out at the above-listed address.  This caused the sanitary sewage to run into a catch basin along the north side of Elm Street.  City staff cleared the blockage in the City main.  City staff also cleared grease and roots from the line that was causing the bypass.  The system bypass ended at 10:35 a.m.  City staff cleaned the bypass area to the storm catch basin.  WPC staff estimated 750 gallons of wastewater were released from the system.  The affected areas are from the north side of Elm Street from 1216 S. 4th Street into the underground storm runoff which is underground for several blocks.  E. coli levels will be tested where runoff comes into the creek.
