Brush Site

Vehicles dropping off branches at the brush site.

The City of Leavenworth Solid Waste Division operates a Brush Site at 1803 S. 2nd Street for City residents to drop off organic materials such as:

  • Branches (fee required - see Fee Schedule)
  • Trees must be free of dirt and less than 12 inches in diameter, no roots or root systems still attached (fee required - see Fee Schedule)
  • Leaves and grass clippings (no fee required)

Hours of operation:

  • March through November open Tuesday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. with last load accepted at 3:50 p.m.
  • December through February - Saturdays, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Starting Friday, December 1, the Brush Site will continue Winter hours, during which it will be closed during the week and only open on Saturdays through the month of March.

The Brush Site supplies free mulch, wood chips and firewood to City residents during regular business hours. To pick up mulch and compost, City residents need to arrive at the Brush Site in a vehicle that can support the weight of the mulch or compost and the vehicle must have sides. City residents are welcome to load their vehicles by hand with their own tools. At this time self-loading is the only option available.

For additional information on the Brush Site, please contact the Municipal Service Center at 913-682-0650.
