Extreme cold and severe weather are forcing some cancellations and changes in Leavenworth. Our trash schedule, which had already been altered because of the holiday, is as follows (see map below):

  • Trash normally picked up Monday - will be picked up Wednesday.
  • Trash normally picked up Tuesday - will be picked up Thursday.
  • Trash normally picked up Wednesday - will be picked up Friday.
  • Trash normally picked up Thursday - will be picked up Saturday.
  • Trash normally picked up Friday - will be picked up Saturday.

From the Leavenworth County Emergency Management office: The State of Kansas is under an emergency for the extreme cold. The electric grid of Kansas and other States have been asked to start with rolling Blackouts over the next 24 to 48 hours. The blackouts should last from 30 to 60 minutes then move to another grid. This will affect all of Kansas and the Kansas City Metro regions. Please check on the elderly and your neighbors.
