City administrative offices and the Riverfront Community Center are closed Friday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Trash will be on normal schedule.
The Leavenworth County Veterans Day Parade is the largest parade in the western United States, honoring veterans, active duty service members and their families. The parade is organized by a committee separate from the City of Leavenworth. It is held each year on the exact day, Nov. 11, http://www.lvvetsparade.com/ The parade route follows a 1.5-mile route through downtown.
Free downtown parking is available. Kansas Highway 7 through downtown Leavenworth closes beginning at 9 a.m. on Veterans Day in preparation for the parade.
