City offices closed July 5 for Independence Day, trash delays

UPDATE on Trash: 
Trash crews were unable to pick up the entire route July 6. If your trash is normally scheduled on Monday and was not picked up today, Tuesday, crews plan to pick up trash on Wednesday. Areas include Ohio to Thornton Street, Fourth Street to Broadway and Second Street to Fifth Street by the Justice Center.

Leavenworth City offices will be closed Monday, July 5 for the observed Independence Day holiday. Wollman Aquatic Center will remain Sunday, July 4, closing at 5 p.m. instead of 7:30 p.m. Wollman Aquatic Center will be open for open swim 1-7:30 p.m. Monday July 5. 

 

The Riverfront Community Center is closed July 4 and open July 5.

Trash will be delayed one day throughout the week of July 5-9.

 

Fireworks illegal in Leavenworth

Residents are reminded that fireworks are illegal in the City of Leavenworth. Any other common fireworks, also called Class C fireworks, are considered illegal in the City. The City prohibits the selling, possession or ignition of fireworks within the City limits. The only exception to this ordinance is for public firework displays that are approved, ahead of time, by the City Clerk and the Fire Chief.

Fort Leavenworth’s “Salute to the Union” will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 4 for Department of Defense ID cardholders only.
