The City's Stormwater Management Plan addresses ways to reduce and improve stormwater

Sept. 21, 2020

The City’s Public Works Department has scheduled a meeting 4:30 - 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St., to receive input regarding the Stormwater Management Plan. The meeting is open to the public. Face masks are required to enter the building.

This is a requirement by the new 5-year National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater permit issued by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Stormwater Management Plan Program goals include:
1) Protect people and property from flood events, and
2) Protect and enhance water quality.

As part of its NPDES permit, the City must meet minimum requirements of six control measures outlined in the permit that address the water quality of stormwater run-off and streams within the City. Staff will do a brief presentation followed by a question and answer session.
