Paul Kramer named as next Leavenworth City Manager

Paul Kramer

Assistant City Manager Paul Kramer was appointed as the next City Manager at a Nov. 2, 2015 Special Meeting.

Kramer will replace City Manager J. Scott Miller, who is retiring in December. Miller worked for the City of Leavenworth for 8 years. The City Manager is the only employee appointed by the City Commission and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City. Other City employees are hired by the City Manager.

Mayor Lisa Weakley noted that Kramer was hired after an extensive search for a City Manager that included outside candidates.

“You are the best man for the job and we’re very excited and pleased to have you,” Weakley told Kramer during the special meeting.

Kramer has worked for the City for 6 years, most recently as Assistant City Manager. His roles with the City have included serving as executive director of the Leavenworth Housing Authority, which required administration over Planters II; administration over Community Development and most recently formulating a plan for the Capital Improvements Program budget. He also worked closely with the City Manager on economic development projects.

“It’s an honor to be selected as the next City Manager of Leavenworth,” Kramer said. “I look forward to working with residents, staff and the Commission to maintain and improve City services and to build on the momentum we’ve developed over the past few years.”

Kramer received a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism and a Master of Public Administration degree, both from the University of Kansas.

Kramer, his wife and two children live in Leavenworth.
