2nd Street and Chestnut Street - Stormwater Project

Before project began

2nd Street and Chestnut Street Stormwater Project

Project Completed October 24, 2023

Project Number: 2018-895

Description of Work: The drainage infrastructure from 2nd Street to 4th Street between Chestnut Street and Spruce Street is comprised of stone arches constructed in the late 1800s, clay tile pipe and corrugated metal pipe installed on private property. The entire drainage system is seeing major failures, that include large sinkholes, arch collapse, and pipe failure because of the age of the materials used.

The project will include the removal of the stone arches, failed clay tile and corrugated metal pipe, curb inlets, and junction boxes. A new stormwater piping system, curb inlets, and junction boxes will be installed and a detention basin will be constructed. The project will also include street reconstruction and paving of intersections and roads. The sanitary sewer system will be updated with new lines and manholes as needed.
